Electric Fencing Products That Deliver Peace of Mind: A Complete Guide to Energizers, Gate Systems and Fencing Tools

A good electric fence is more than wire and posts. It is a system: an energizer that powers and monitors the fence, gate hardware that keeps the circuit intact where the fence opens, and the right tools to install and maintain it. This guide covers every part of the Godrej electric fencing range (built on Nemtek technology) so you can choose the right components for your property.

Part 1: Energizers, the Heart of Your Electric Fence

The energizer generates the high-voltage pulses that make the fence a deterrent. It also monitors the fence for tampering and faults and backs itself up when mains power fails. The range is divided by zones.

What is a "zone"?

A zone is a separately monitored section of fence. A single-zone energizer treats the whole fence as one circuit. A dual-zone energizer splits it in two, so a fault or intrusion can be traced to one section rather than the entire perimeter.

Single Zone: The Wizord Range

The Wizord energizers have been field tested for many years and are known for reliability, simple installation and easy maintenance. There are two models.

Both models share the same feature set:

1. Built-in alarm for tampering and faultsThe energizer monitors both the high-voltage and earth fence wires. If someone cuts, shorts or tampers with the wires, or a fault develops, the alarm is triggered. You don't have to walk the fence line to find out something is wrong.

2. Connectable to an armed response radio or GSM moduleThe energizer can pass its alarm to a security response service or send alerts over a GSM module, so you are notified even when you're not on site.

3. Lightning and power surge protectionFences cover large open areas and are exposed to storms and unstable power. Built-in protection helps the energizer survive these events.

4. Intelligent power saving to extend battery lifeWhen the system is running on its back-up battery, power saving reduces consumption so the fence stays active longer during an outage.

5. Easy-to-use control tag includedA tag is supplied with the unit, so you can arm and disarm the energizer simply, without complicated menus.

6. Powered by 230V mains with built-in battery back-upThe energizer runs on mains power. If the grid fails, the built-in battery keeps the fence protecting your property.

7. Built-in gate alarm inputThe energizer can monitor whether a gate is open or closed, so an unexpectedly open gate is flagged.

Optional accessories (for both models):

  • Double Pole Lightning Protection: extra protection against lightning.

  • Nemtek Connect: a connectivity accessory for remote interaction with the energizer.

  • Enclosure: a protective housing for the unit.

Which Wizord should you choose? Both have the same features, so the choice comes down to output and the length and type of wire you need to power. The 2i (2J) suits smaller installations. The 4i (3.7J) gives more output for longer runs. See the wire-length table below.

Dual Zone: The Merlin Stealth Range

The Merlin Stealth dual-zone energizers are a powerful range for anything from residential to high-end security needs. They are a cost-effective solution wherever more than one zone is required.

Why dual-zone?

  • Easy fault identification. Separating the fence into zones lets you quickly see which zone has a fault or has been tampered with.

  • Smart energy distribution. The design transfers the maximum amount of energy to the zone that needs it. The combined energy of the two zones will never exceed the legal maximum permitted, so you get strong performance while staying compliant.

  • Flexible control. These energizers can be controlled by a tag, a keypad, or both, and can be programmed to offer customised solutions.

Key specifications: Two zones, 7.6J output.

How to read this: In dual-zone models, "2 × 5km" means 5 km on each of the two zones. Aluminium wire carries far more length per energizer than stainless steel, so wire choice strongly affects which energizer you need.

Other points from the specification table:

  • Multi-energizer systems: the 25 LCD and 28 LCD models can be used in a multi-energizer network system.

  • Compliance: every energizer listed complies with IEC 60335-2-76, CISPR 14 and EN 61000.

Important notes from the catalogue:

  • Output energy depends on component tolerance and energy settings, and is reduced during power failure.

  • Some functions are available at the cost of another function (marked YES*). See www.nemtek.com for details.

  • Solar panel sizes and battery capacities are based on sunlight exposure in southern Africa and vary by location.

  • All energizers are built with a 230Vac ±10% transformer. 110V versions are available on request. Batteries are supplied as standard.

  • Specifications may change without prior notice.

Part 2: Gate Systems, Keeping the Circuit Safe Where the Fence Opens

Gates are the weak point of any electric fence. The Nemtek gate contacts use stainless steel and brass components, which makes them suitable for most environmental conditions

.

Gate Locator and Swing Gate Plates (EY-GLAU, EY-GPAU)

  • Heavy-duty design

  • Electro plated

  • Work with both the 2-way and 3-way gate contacts

2-Way Gate Contact (EA-SGC07, EA-SGC13)

  • Used for series wiring of a gate

  • Suitable for sliding gates

  • Lug or brass connectors

  • Available with an earth plate (EA-SGC13/EARTH)

3-Way Gate Contact (EA-SGC193W)

  • Effective short-to-earth detection over sliding gates

  • 2 live and 1 earth connectors with lugs

  • Available with brass connectors (EA-SGC213W)

Gate Mounting Bracket (EA-SGC/UNIB)

  • Heavy-duty design

  • Hot-dip galvanised for corrosion resistance

  • Works with both the 2-way and 3-way gate contacts

Quick guide: Use the 2-way contact for series wiring of a gate. Choose the 3-way contact if you want short-to-earth detection over a sliding gate. Pair either with the mounting bracket and the locator or swing gate plates.

Part 3: Fencing Tools, Installing and Maintaining Your Fence

The right tools make installation faster and the result more reliable.

How they fit together: Measure the perimeter with the wheel (and check it against the wire-length table). Drive the pickets, run and tension the wire, crimp the ferrules, and trim with the cutters.

Choosing the Right Setup: A Checklist

  1. Measure your perimeter with the measuring wheel.

  2. Pick your wire type, since it determines how much length an energizer can handle.

  3. Decide on zones. One zone for simple perimeters, two for easier fault location.

  4. Match the energizer to your wire length using the table above.

  5. Plan your gates and choose 2-way or 3-way contacts accordingly.

  6. Add accessories such as lightning protection, Nemtek Connect, an enclosure or a keypad.

  7. Get the right tools for installation and maintenance.

Conclusion

From the field-proven Wizord single-zone units to the dual-zone Merlin Stealth range, plus robust gate hardware and professional-grade tools, the Godrej electric fencing range covers the full system. Contact us for help sizing an energizer to your property.

Points to verify before publishing (inconsistencies I noticed in the catalogue):

  1. The dual-zone section (page 162) is headed "Merlin Stealth" but the product is labelled "WIZORD 2i (E-WIZ2I)". This looks like a label error, so I described it as the Merlin Stealth range. Please confirm the correct model name and code.

  2. The Y-picket driver (TL-PDY) is labelled "Knipex Wire Cutter" in the catalogue, which looks like a copy error. I described it by its function.

  3. The Druid LCD models (13, 15, 18, 25, 28 LCD) appear in the wire-length table but have no product page in this catalogue, so I haven't described them in detail. The table also shows a second "Merlin 4i" column that I kept as written.

  4. Specifications like 7.6J output come directly from the catalogue, so keep them in line with your latest spec sheets.
